Graveyard in Kilcoke

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Kilcoke graveyard on Church Hill in County Laois still receives unbaptized children although the church of St. Coca disappeared long ago. Rough uninscribed stones mark the continuing use beside a building no longer visible. The place keeps doing one narrow job after losing the rest of its shape.
Unlocated graveyard within townland , described by Carrigan as 'The church (LA022-049001-) of Kilcoke stood within the precincts of a small graveyard on the 'Church Hill' of Kilcoke. It has long been obliterated. The graveyard is still used, but only for the interment of unbaptized children (LA022-049002-). There are some rough uninscribed headstones. The church was dedicated to, and received its name from St. Coca, Virgin, probably the same who is commemorated in the Martyrology of Donegal on June 6th' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 141-2).
