Faughnan found only empty soil in 1943, yet local memory still placed a graveyard one field from the holy well. The stones vanished before his boots touched the earth, leaving behind a ghost shape rather than a visible mark. That absence does not remove the dead; it forces them to occupy the imagination of everyone who walks past the ordinary field.

Faughnan (1943) recorded the tradition that there was formerly a burial ground in the field where there was the tradition of a church (site). This was 'distant one field' from that which contained the holy well (LE005-017----). He noted that 'Whatever burial stones or other grave markings there were in the field' had disappeared by the time of his visit. The location of this feature is not known. Compiled by: Paul Walsh
