Graveslab in Swords Glebe

Graveslab

What is recorded here

Graveslab in Swords Glebe holds broken limestone fragments bearing a 17th century inscription and a later 18th century addition. The stones survived inside the tower, preserving a name or prayer across generations. What the words said, and who spoke them, has been lost.
Within the tower there are fragments of a rectangular limestone graveslab (L 1.26m, Wth 0.64m, T 0.06m). On it is an incised 17th century inscription with a later 18th century addition (Bradley and King 1988, iv, 318). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011
