Graveslab in St. Dominicks Abbey

Lying prostrate in the nave of St. Dominick's Abbey (TS061-025007-), close to the N wall. Described by Maher (1987, 68), this is rectangular limestone slab (L 2m; Wth at top 0.5m; Wth at base 0.49m) with a crack across the upper portion. The surface is very badly spawled and of the decorative pattern only the parallel incised lines of the shaft are visible. There is a chamfered edge on the dexter side (Wth 0.025) but not on the sinister side and a suggestion of a chamfer along the top but this may be a result of wear. The graveslab has been reused and there is a 18th/19th inscription on the upper portion of the slab. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 05 August 2014
