Graveslab in Quin Abbey, County Clare: Westropp recorded a Latin slab for Johannis Capitanus Macnamara, 1601, made by Anna filia Mac Brien; in 2018 no such Latin slab was visible, only an English recumbent slab under the belfry. The missing line may have been moved, buried or misread, but the chamber still keeps its dead and their names tangled beneath the bells.

Westropp (1892-4, 278) describes a graveslab 'under the belfry' of Quin Abbey (CL042-027002-). He cites the inscription, in Latin, in raised capitals, as 'HIC JACET JOHANN:S CAPITNS MACNAMARA 1601 ANNA FILIA MAC BRIEN A[VIA ALIAS ?] MACNMARRA ME FIERI FECIT.’ On inspection in April 2018, there was no graveslab with this inscription in evidence under the belfry or elsewhere.
