What is recorded here

Graveslab in Killeenavarra marks a dead person as a driver, not a distant abstract soul. The chamber still holds that much: a life lived, a death accepted, a name half-lost, and a request for prayer written beneath a plough sock. Everything else is inference.

This late-medieval graveslab lies to the E of the internal N-S dividing wall in the church (GA113-129----). It bears the occupational symbol of a plough sock with the following inscription beneath it: PRAY FOR THE SOULE OF D(?)R 1687. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 28 February 2020
