Graveslab in Inishcaltra OR Holy Island

Graveslab

What is recorded here

Inishcaltra is a small island in County Clare, Ireland, where a plain graveslab still lies in the western half of the Saint’s graveyard. The stone is 1.14m long and 0.41m wide, resting 17m from the south wall and 2.5m from the west wall. Macalister drew it in 1916-17 but never numbered it, as if the island kept one burial outside the count.
Situated in the W half of the Saint’s graveyard (CL029-009030-) on Inis Cealtra, 17m from the S wall and 2.5m from the W wall. An undecorated recumbent graveslab (L 1.14m; Wth 0.41m) drawn but not numbered on Macalister’s plan of the graveyard (1916-17, pl. XV). Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 10 November 2015
