Graveslab in Holycross

One of two graveslabs (TN047-030018-019) located behind in the N chapel off the N transept of the Cistercian abbey (TN047-030001) at Holycross. Number 11 in D. Maher's catalogue of Medieval Grave Slabs of County Tipperary 1200 - 1600 A.D. for Holycross Abbey. Slightly tapered upper portion of a broken slab ( L 1.17m; Top Wth 0.56m ; Base Wth 0.44m; T 0.03m) with chamfered edge along the three sides, situated near S wall of the chapel. Poorly preserved surface decorated with a seven-armed segmental cross carved in relief, with fleur-de-lis terminals. A raised border occurs along the three surviving sides of the slab.
