Graveslab

What is recorded here

Graveslab in Freshford Lots is the upper portion of a rectangular limestone slab inserted in the inner face of the west wall of the C of I graveyard, 0.6m north of the entrance. Three worn lines of roman capitals run across its top, beginning “HERE LIES CORNELIUS (?) GEALE OF…” and ending with 1693 or 1695, while the lower two thirds have surrendered their letters to time.
