Graveslab in Ballintober (carra By.)

Graveslab

What is recorded here

Graveslab in Ballintober (carra By.) marks one life or a small cluster of deaths, yet the absence of a visible chamber or marker denies it the grandeur of a cathedral. That vacancy is not a failure but an invitation: to imagine the hands that cut the stone, the fever or violence that ended the journey, and the neighbours who walked past it until rain and grass erased the edge. A graveslab without a name still performs its function, holding time steady and reminding the living that forgetting is the first death.
