What is recorded here
Located on a slight shelf on a S-facing slope. The site of the parish church of Whitechurch (WX039-057001-) is within a rectangular graveyard (dims c. 40m E-W; c. 35m N-S) defined by masonry walls, with a rectangular extension (dims c. 20m E-W; c. 15m N-S) on the N side of the present Church of Ireland church. A fragment of a medieval grave slab (WX039-057003-) is in the graveyard. Archaeological supervision (22E0612) by C. Moriarty of works connected with the conservation of the graveyard wall uncovered human remains in one foundation pit for a buttress which were preserved in situ (excavations.ie 2022:234).
