What is recorded here

Grave Yd is a graveyard on a south-facing slope above Ballycrovane Harbour, holding lines of low uninscribed stones and the ruined church of Kilcatherine at its centre. The earliest headstones appear in the early 19th century, yet the bare older marks suggest death and memory belonged there long before writing arrived. People may have laid out forgotten neighbours beneath an open sky, leaving no names because the sea, slope and stone already recorded them.
