In a low-lying corner of County Laois, a graveyard sits in near-silence, its enclosing stone wall marking the outline of a place that was once considerably more active than it now appears. The site is almost square, measuring roughly 65 metres north to south and 58 metres east to west, a regularity that hints at deliberate early planning. Yet step inside and the built fabric has largely dissolved back into the ground. A single featureless fragment of masonry survives on the western side, and wall foundations east of centre describe shapes that no longer resolve into any recognisable plan. At the heart of the enclosure there was once a church, though what denomination or period it belonged to is difficult to say from what survives above ground. The place name element "Glebe" points to land historically set aside for the maintenance of a parish clergyman, suggesting this was
