Grave Yard in County Cork is a buried memory rather than a visible row of stones. Bowman measured a large western mound and a shallow hole beside it, claiming a young man died soon after digging for treasure. Tradition also places slain men from the Battle of Knocknanuss in its earth, blending battlefield tragedy and greedy folly into one quiet field.

Marked on 1842 OS 6-inch map as roughly wedge-shaped area (c. 30m NE-SW at N end; c. 40m NE-SW at S end; c. 30m N-S) and named 'Grave Yard'; not named on 1905 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, on N side of road. Subrectangular area (28m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) enclosed on S side by low earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.15m) curving in SE angle, by substantial bank of earth and stone (H 1.1m) to W, by levelled bank (H 0.4m) to N and by new lane and earthen bank extending N from road, on E side. Interior slightly uneven; large depression in SE corner (9m x 13m; D 0.9m); no visible surface trace of burials or grave markers. Bowman (1934, 412) notes burial ground as 'oval-shaped... surrounded by a fence, at present about 6ft high and 12ft wide at the top in some places'. He also noted large mound ('45ft x 16ft x 4ft high') on W side with hole ('about 9 sq. yards and about 2ft deep') adjacent, said to have been dug by young man looking for buried treasure who died soon after. According to tradition, some of the slain were buried here after the Battle of Knocknanuss (14694) in 1647 (ibid.).
