Furness House now dresses a disused graveyard where prehistoric rock art and an 18th-century church still share the same forgotten ground. Trees crowd the square plot, hiding tombstones and making the place feel less like a museum and more like a household that stopped answering knocks. What was sacred to several ages has become decorative to one, which is both a loss and a kindness.

On the landscaped grounds of Furness House. A roughly square (dims. L c. 40m; Wth c. 40m), tree-clad area, no longer used for burial. Synnott (1969, 467) recorded two 18th century tombstones here.
