Grave Yard

Grave Yard at Louth Hall is a circular burial ground about 45 metres across, preserved on a small hillock while the church that likely gave it purpose has disappeared without a visible trace. Its rounded shape echoes early medieval Irish sacred enclosures, where a raised boundary could have marked holy ground before any stone building appeared. Centuries of farming, weathering or stone robbing may have erased that church, leaving only the dead, the mound and a boundary still clear enough to stop a traveller mid-thought.
