Explorer Tom Former Post Office in Portrush turned into a library, so all the letters are just very quiet books now. Ideal place to rehearse an excuse for being late, because silence is golden there.
Explorer Tom Portrush Town Hall is where the town council probably held a dance that went so far they had to pretend none of it happened. It's a Grade B+ building from the 1860s that still smells faintly of regret and bad perfume. Wave at the cows, they're the real locals here.
Arcadia PlayparkChildren's playground · 183 ydComputer-made pictureExplorer Tom Arcadia Playpark sounds like a little slice of paradise in County Antrim, where children can play freely and happily together.
Explorer Tom The Big Red Game Centre is likely a vibrant hub for bowling, arcade games, and lots of friendly competition.
PillboxPillbox, Dhp no.100 · 222 ydComputer-made pictureExplorer Tom Pillbox in Portrush is a concrete bunker that got cold feet during the war and hid under a hedge. Its first owner had an escape plan involving a surfboard, which was definitely not working. Perfect place to be dramatically windswept.
WWII PillboxWWII Pillbox, Dhp no.99 · 306 ydComputer-made pictureExplorer Tom WWII Pillbox in Portrush is number ninety-nine, which means ninety-eight others had more fun. It probably spent the war listening to rain and judging the locals' haircuts for being too soft. Hang around long enough and you'll hear a story from a local.
West StrandBeach / strand · 452 ydExplorer Tom West Strand is a quiet corner of County Antrim, where one man and his dog often enjoy the fresh coastal air.
East StrandBeach / strand · 1525 ydExplorer Tom East Strand looks towards the White Rocks, often buzzing with charity walkers raising funds for leukemia research here.
Castle & Promontory Fort; Dunfert or Ballyreagh Castle in BallyreaghCastle & Promontory Fort · 1579 ydExplorer Tom Ballyreagh Castle is a promontory fort that thinks it’s a beach club for ghosts. A fox took charge once and never gave the keys back. Bring a pen pal, they'll be jealous of your ghostly friends.
Little SkerriesIslet · 1.3 miExplorer Tom Little Skerries peer out from the harbor, a tiny companion to Winkle Island and Castle Island.
Church & Graveyard: Ballywillin in GlebeChurch & Graveyard: Ballywillin · 1.4 miExplorer Tom Ballywillin in Glebe has been scheduled since medieval times and still argues with the next village over something daft, like fence posts. There’s a caretaker’s cottage nearby that looks derelict from the back. Bring curiosity, leave with a better story than mine.
White RocksVisitor information · 1.6 miExplorer Tom At the White Rocks strand, with Portrush round the headland and Donegal’s mountains in view, you can see two worlds at once.
