Internal diam. 22.6m. A sub circular area enclosed apparently by a collapsed and grassed-over stone wall. The site is located on a knoll of limestone outcrop. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Gortnacart Glebe Stone Ringfort is a sub-circular early-medieval stone-walled enclosure, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. While no specific folklore is recorded for this site, like many ringforts in Ireland, it may have later been associated with local legends of fairies or ancient inhabitants due to its mysterious and elevated setting on a limestone knoll.
