What is recorded here
Freestanding single-span cast-iron foot bridge over railway track, built 1862, with staircases to east and west elevations, one to each platform. Depressed three-centred arch supported on eight cast-iron columns, four to each platform. Maker's mark to column shaft. Cross-braced parapets to bridge and staircases. Staircases terminated at base by decorative cast-iron colonettes.
A good example of Victorian engineering, this intact cast-iron footbridge features well-executed decorative detailing and still serves its original purpose. The related railway structures on the site, including the accompanying station, form a pleasant grouping of features in the landscape.
