Glebe House

Detached three-bay two-storey over basement glebe house, c.1820, retaining original aspect with single-bay three-storey side elevations, two-bay two-storey return to north-east, and single-bay single-storey over basement lean-to infill bay to north. Now in private residential use. Hipped slate roofs (lean-to to infill bay) with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks, sproketed eaves, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Unpainted roughcast walls. Square-headed window openings with stone sills, and 6/6 timber sash windows. Round-headed door opening in round-headed recess with flight of four cut-limestone steps, timber panelled door, and fanlight. Interior with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Set back from road in own grounds with tarmacadam forecourt approached by avenue, and landscaped grounds to site.

An attractive middle-size house of balanced Georgian proportions that retains its original form and character, together with most of the original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior. Of particular significance in the locality for its original intended use as an ecclesiastical residence, the house forms an attractive landmark on the road leading out of Clashmore to the north-east.
