Glamis Castle, West Tower

Glamis Castle, West Tower was built by the Douglas family in the 14th century and later held by the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, the descendants of Sir David Lindsay, who married a daughter of William the Lion, King of Scotland. The tower is important as part of the historic Glamis Castle, long associated with Scottish nobility and Scottish royal lineage, and famously linked to Shakespeare's Macbeth.
