Glamis Castle was built by the Lyon family in the 14th century and later held by the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, a prominent Scottish noble line. It is important as the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and for its historical association with Scottish royalty and folklore.
