Glamis Castle, Dovecot stands in Angus, Scotland as a 17th Century structure still marked on the national record. The castle owned the dovecot, yet the birds flew free and the castle masters watched them return at dusk. The dovecot gave eggs, meat and a living roof of wings; the castle gave the dovecot a name and a boundary. Together they formed one household where stone, bird and human desire kept each other company.

Glamis Castle, Dovecot was part of the Glamis Castle estate, held by the Douglas and later the Graham families, prominent Scottish noble families, from the 14th century onwards. The dovecot, built in the 17th century, is important as an example of Scottish medieval domestic architecture and reflects the estate's historical role in agriculture and feudal society.
