What is recorded here

Young Gerald FitzGerald drew his first breath in Maynooth in 1487, entering a world where blood and law were already tangled. He would carry that Kildare name into the highest chambers of power, only to lose it inside the Tower of London. The boy born into pride became a warning about how quickly pride can strangle the hand that holds it.

Why this person is known: Lord Deputy of Ireland (1487-1534)
