What is recorded here

Geneva Barracks began as New Geneva, a glittering colony planned for displaced artisans from Geneva, but the dream collapsed when the settlers demanded self-rule. The abandoned stones became a military prison during the 1798 rebellion, where captured United Irishmen faced execution, transport or conscription. Today only ruined walls remain in a grassy field near Passage East, holding the ghost of a city that never lived and the blood of men who resisted.
