Gateway, c.1800, comprising elliptical-headed carriageway with tooled limestone ashlar piers having cut-limestone course to spring of arch, cut-limestone voussoirs, unpainted rendered, ruled and lined parapet over incorporating ogee-headed window opening having cut-limestone sill, cut-limestone surround, and cut-stone coping incorporating cut-limestone panel to centre. Set back from line of road at entrance to grounds of Thomastown Tannery complex.
An attractive gateway identified in the streetscape by the elegant profile of the openings together with the limestone dressings displaying expert stone masonry.
