What is recorded here

Two stones face each other across a narrow gap on the hillside, leaning slightly as if listening for a voice lost before written language. They are not a portal, a chamber or a boundary marker. They are a pair, separated by a distance the body can measure but the mind cannot easily explain.

On flat pasture on E side of low hill which slopes down to Blackwater river. Stones, aligned NE-SW, stand 1.7m apart; overall length 3.8m. NE stone is 0.85m L, 0.55m T and 0.8m H. SW stone is 1.1m L, 0.6m T and 0.9m H. (Ó Nualláin 1988, 246, no. 122) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
