Gallauns holds two granite stones three metres apart in County Carlow, one rounded and rectangular, the other angular and triangular. The eastern stone carries an Ogham inscription naming Dunaidonas Maqi Mariani on edges facing its partner, while chocking stones still mark both sockets. Whatever boundary, memory or warning they once held has faded, but the stones still point at each other across the gap like an unfinished sentence waiting for a listener.

Stone to E has angular sides and triangular cross-section (H 1.3m; 0.62m x 0.82m x 0.65m). Ogham inscription ('Dunaidonas Maqi Mariani') visible on two edges facing W stone (JRSAI 1910, 349). Chocking stones of both sockets exposed. (Macalister 1945, 19)

Likely dating to the Early Christian period (5th–9th century AD), the stones may mark a boundary or memorial, with the ogham inscription possibly recording a name or territorial marker. Such stones are often associated with local folklore or early Irish settlements.
