What is recorded here

Gallaun is a tall standing stone in Glanleam, County Kerry, trapped inside a later fortification called Cromwell's Fort. The upright predates the earthwork by millennia, forcing the fort either to embrace the older marker or to ignore it completely. A leaning slab now braces the stone after it shook easily in 1839, proving that human hands have repeatedly refused to let the ancient marker fall.

In tillage on E-facing slope. Sub-rectangular stone aligned NE-SW (H 1m; 1.25m x 0.6m). Two stones indicated on OS 6-inch map (1842).
