What is recorded here

Gallaun is a tall standing stone in County Kerry, buried inside a later fort called Cromwell's Fort. The stone predates the fort by millennia, forcing the fort to share its corner with something older and less explainable. A leaning slab still braces its base, perhaps added after the stone began to shake. What looked like a military marker may have been a boundary drawn around a place people already feared or revered.

Not shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map. In bogland, on lower W slopes of Musherabeg. Stone (H 1.65m; 0.85m x 0.45m) is rectangular in plan, leaning to NE; long axis NE-SW.
