What is recorded here

Gallán was a standing stone in County Cork, marked on maps from 1842 to 1938 before losing its visible trace. It may have guided travelers, marked a boundary, or watched over a field now forgotten. The land keeps the shape of what it lost, even when the stone is gone.

Indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map; 'Gallaun' on 1904 OS 6-inch map; 'Gallán' (site of)' on 1938 OS 6-inch map. No visible surface trace.
