What is recorded here

Gallán is a two-metre standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, still caught in a field fence on a south-west slope. It has watched cattle, weather and forgotten footpaths for centuries while resisting every survey and mapping attempt. The stone does not need human permission to remain visible, nor does it need a date to be old enough for memory.

Not shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map. In pasture, on SSW-facing slope. Stone (H 2m; 1.65m x 0.6m) is irregular in plan; standing in field fence. Long axis WNW-ESE.
