What is recorded here

Gallan is a vanished standing stone in County Cork, recorded on a 1938 map but absent from earlier surveys and now hidden beneath reclaimed pasture. The land has been stripped of fences and markers, erasing the stone from human memory and physical space. What remains is a gap in the landscape, a place where something upright once broke the horizon and now dissolves into grass and forgetting.

Not shown on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. Shown as single standing stone on 1938 OS 6-inch map. In reclaimed pasture with many field fences removed. No visible surface trace.
