What is recorded here

Gallán is a two-metre standing stone on a south-facing slope in County Cork, hidden from the 1842 survey and still overlooked by modern carts. It leans slightly northeast, its flat edges worn smooth by rain and time. People may have set it there to mark a boundary, honour a dead person, or simply watch the sun cross the sky. The stone does not need a name to be ancient, nor a map to be real.

Not shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map. In rough grazing, on S-facing slope. Stone (H 2.14m; 1.02m x 0.53m) is subrectangular in plan, long axis NE-SW.
