What is recorded here

Gallán was a seven-foot standing stone on a NE-facing slope in County Cork, recorded by Hartnett in 1939 before disappearing from the pasture. It stood tall enough to touch, wide enough to mark, and absent enough to haunt. The land kept its shape long after the stone vanished, suggesting human hands once arranged the slope for witness rather than memory.

Not shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map. In pasture, on NE-facing slope. Removed. Hartnett (1939, 57) recorded stone measuring 72ins H; 33ins x 19ins.
