What is recorded here

Gallán is a rectangular standing stone in County Cork wetland, measuring 1.05m high and aligned NNE-SSW. It resisted mapping on 1842 and 1904 charts, hiding in plain water where surveyors walked past or forgot. The stone may have marked a crossing, a boundary, or a warning to drown the careless. Its refusal to appear on official maps suggests it belongs to the land, not the archive.
