What is recorded here

Gallán was a single standing stone in County Cork, visible on the 1938 map but absent from earlier surveys, now removed without even a shallow scar to mark its departure. It may have guided herds, witnessed weddings or simply stood because the field needed a vertical line. Forgetting it is not loss, since it is gone, but remembering it keeps the field from becoming empty.
