What is recorded here

Gallán stood six feet tall on a sunny slope beside an old ringfort, but a local owner sledged the stone to pieces in 1915. The violent destruction of a marker so close to human history suggests fear, greed or simple impatience with the past. What the stone recorded is lost, yet the act of breaking it remains a clear record of the person who refused to share the landscape with memory.

In pasture, on S-facing slope c. 50m to S of ringfort (8124). Removed; Broker (1937, 30) recorded 'gallan, 6ft H, 3 or 4 ft in girth, sledged to pieces by owner, 1915'.
