Gallán is an irregular standing stone in West Cork, aligned east-west on a north-facing slope now buried under tillage. It stands slightly taller than a person, thin enough to block little light, yet visible far enough to mark the edge of a field or the path around it. The stone may have watched seasons turn, herds pass, or people argue about ownership long before anyone wrote the argument down.
