Gallán was a 1.5m quartzite standing stone on a south-facing Cork pasture slope, knocked over around 1977 and left lying beside a field fence thirty metres south. Local tradition claims two giants fought there and the stone flew from the impact into its final position. The pasture may have swallowed the marker while the giant story kept the violence alive in memory.

Not marked on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, on S-facing slope. Removed c. 1977; now lying beside field fence c. 30m to S (CO023-335----). Stone (L 1.5m) is quartzite and irregular in shape. According to Bowman (1934, 408), one of two stones (9897) which landed in position after a pitched battle between two giants.
