Pair of square-profile ashlar limestone piers, built c. 1810, having moulded string courses, ornately-carved caps with ball finials, and cut limestone plinths with chamfered roll mouldings.

These imposing, ornate piers form the entrance to a house which was never built. They are set at a great distance from each other and therefore, may have been intended as terminal piers to the sweeping walls of main entrance piers. The piers are solidly constructed and enhanced by the heavy plinths with chamfered details. The caps project significantly and are surmounted by ornate, finely carved ball finials. The level of craftsmanship involved in the construction of these piers is of the highest quality and is a reminder of the skill of local stone masons and sculptors in Ireland at the time. They form an attractive roadside feature.
