What is recorded here
Gallachan Bay features sandstone and limestone rock formations, primarily from the Carboniferous period, around 300 to 360 million years old. These rocks were formed through sedimentary processes in ancient shallow seas and are notable for their exposure of layered marine deposits typical of the western Scottish coastline.
