Fulacht fia in Shinnagh

Fulacht fia

What is recorded here

No visible stones remain at Shinnagh, only a modern gravel seam covering the hidden ground. Yet the name still points to a fiery kitchen where water boiled and meat cooked before roads or written laws. The earth may have swallowed the stones, but it did not erase the heat.
Towards the W lower slopes of a broad gentle ridge in partially improved pasture. Reported as a possible fulacht fia (SMR file). Modern gravel fill appears to overlie the reported location and no visible surface trace of a monument was found upon inspection. Date of visit: 13-11-2024 Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy and Leo Morahan
