No readable history of Derryleigh survives. The loss of the story is not the same as the loss of the place. Keep the place, its name and the fact that it is forgotten. Wait for a visible source or a clear witness. Do not build a beautiful answer on top of a missing fact.

In reclaimed pasture. Found while digging drain c. 1990; now partially destroyed by drain. Burnt material visible in section in drain resting on layer of peat; according to local information, was also covered by peat prior to discovery. Layer of stoney material extends northwards for 20m, possibly associated pathway. Two spreads of burnt material (CO059-178---; CO059-179---) 8m to N.
