Fulacht fia in Ballynacourty

Fulacht fia

What is recorded here

Some 2.5m to the S of another fulacht fia (GA103-037001-). This fulacht fia is defined by a large grassy mound (c. 10m NNE-SSW; c. 8m ESE-WNW; H c. 1.2m max.) that is cut by a field wall at NE and SW which obscures its plan. It appears to have originally been horseshoe-shaped opening towards the SSW. The mound has been partly disturbed to the SE of the wall where a large whitethorn bush is growing. Burnt stone has been exposed by cattle along the NW side. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 15 November 2019
