Doonameenock rises in Drumnagreagh as a fortified outcrop, its exact age still uncertain but its purpose clear enough in the shape of the land. The rock likely offered height, visibility and defensible ground, which means people valued the view and the protection more than comfort. Anyone standing there would have felt the smallness of human life beside the patience of stone.
