Baunreagh, Bockagh and Brisha hide a 1547 fortification built by Sir Anthony St. Leger to oppose O'Connor and O'More. The Annals of the Four Masters name the place Badhun-Riaganach, yet no exact remains have been identified. Near the source of the Barrow, the townlands still surround the lost work like a kept secret.

The Annals of the Four Masters records that in 1547 the forces of Sir Anthony St. Leger, the Lord Chief Justice, built a fortification in Leix around Badhun-Riaganach 'where he left wardens to oppose O'Connor and O'More'. Unlocated fortification within townland of either Bockagh, Brish or Baunreagh. Baun Regan is marked on old Map of Leix and Offaly as near the source of the Barrow.
