What is recorded here
Forest Rock is a sandstone sea cliff formed during the Permian period, approximately 270 to 290 million years ago, through the deposition of wind-blown sediments in a desert environment. It is notable for its exposure of the Charnwood Forest Sandstone, which is significant for understanding the geological history of the East Midlands.
