Unlocated road within townlands described by Feehan as 'The course of the ancient highway between western Upper Ossory and Kilkenny, again on Canon Carrigan's authority, ran east from Levally Road which is near Rathdowney and forded the Erkina under Coolkerry Church, whence it ran through Coolkerry to ford the river again under Erkindale House. Significantly and this supports Canon Carrigan's route - this ford is referred to in a thirteenth century charter as Athmactire, the wolves ford. From Aghmactire the road ran through the Rath Field of Knockfinn around Carrick Rock, by Kylebeg Church, Kylenaseer nunnery, through the centre of Hag Bog and on past Gurteen Schoolhouse and Kyleogue churchyard to ford the River Gowl near newtown nunnery. It then crossed Cahir Hill to Newtown, and on to Aharney Church via Graganvoice. Then it ran on to Lisdowney and on into Kilkenny' (Feehan 1983, 456).
