Meadstown, County Meath: Font in Meadstown, an octagonal stone with a conical hole, lies almost buried beside the Black Church. Crude edges and shallow dimensions suggest haste or reuse rather than ceremony. Water may have flowed through it for baptisms, or perhaps it marked a older well before the church claimed the ground.

The crudely made base of a font, which is an octagonal stone (dim. of top 0.3-0.35m; dim of base 0.45m) with a conical perforation, is almost buried near the gable of the Black Church within the graveyard (ME030-009001-). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 2 January, 2015
